Leaves of Fall
beautiful and bold
But truth be told,
harbingers of cold
Too soon, boots
and woolen suits
I miss May's
nice long days
A tallit-and-tefillin-wearing woman in a traditional Conservative synagogue?! An unorthodox—and non-orthodox—perspective on Jews and Judaism from a perpetual misfit. This blog, welcoming the entire Jewish community, is dedicated to those who take Judaism seriously, but not necessarily literally.

Once upon a time, I belonged to a left-wing egalitarian Conservative synagogue, where I was one of a number of women who wore a tallit—and one of the few members who used an Orthodox prayer book (adding the Mothers, of course). Having moved since then, I now belong to a right-wing traditional Conservative synagogue, where I’m almost always the only woman wearing a tallit—and one of the few members who adds the Mothers. I seem destined to be forever . . . on the fringe.

I like the colors. And sweaters. :-D
This middle-aged lady
wasn't always afraid-y
of sweaters for chilly storm
But since she hit 40
she's found it not sporty
to switch between hot, cold, and warm
On sweaters, alack
she's had to cut back
and wears only cardigans
A pull-over sweater
is good for cold weather
But not to remove 'gain & again
Today I tried the kids' boots on to be sure that last year's can be passed down a step. I can't believe it's this time already! The puffy coats and snowsuits, the wet leaves on everything, the carseat straps becoming infinitely snugger under the bulk . . sigh . . How soon is May?
Not soon enough! Oy.
I like the crisp days of November...but I'm not looking forward to the snow. Winter was prettier at home.
The snow looks lovely by the light of the moon
But it turns into slush by the time it's noon
